Some Of The Things I Think About All The Time…..

Some Of The Things I Think About All The Time…..

I want to make one thing perfectly clear right off the bat, I am an enigma, and believe it or not, a vast amount of people consider me to be a world-renowned scholar of esoteric knowledge, I contemplate things that many would not or could not dare to think about.

Being a scholar of esoteric knowledge I have lived my entire life based on the profound wisdom of John Houseman, who once said,  ” A wise man believes only in lies, trusts only the absurd and learns to expect the unexpected”

So, because of all this, I find myself thinking about a lot of things that most people probably haven’t even considered thinking about before.  I am going to share a few of these thoughts with you to see what you think. Feel free to comment on any one of (or all) these profound revelations.

Please remember all these opinions are mine, and mine alone, and are not meant to disrespect anyone’s personal beliefs or philosophy in life. If you are offended, by my opinions and my beliefs then you should stop reading this article right now.

Life & Death

The Afterlife

I hear religious people all the time talking about the glorious afterlife they’re going to have after death. Really? How do you know that? What if you’re wrong? Just saying.   I know one thing for certain, believe me, I have thought about this a lot.  “Life is a sure thing, and death is definitely to uncertain for my liking”.  I equate this to someone who is relying on winning the lottery as their retirement plan., the odds are totally against you. You may want to have a plan B,  just in case Plan A, doesn’t work out

I don’t know about you, but not one person that I have ever known, or even ever heard of that had died, has ever come back, appeared to me, came to me in a dream, or anything else for that matter, and extolled the virtues of being dead, and how awesome the afterlife is, and encouraged me to try it for myself.

Think about that for a moment.  Although, I have had living people tell me that I should just die, or that I should just kill myself.  Obviously, I didn’t listen to them and don’t plan to, not now and not ever.

I know exactly what some of you are thinking right about now. “You have to have faith and you have to believe with all your heart”. OK, I get that. I have heard this literally uncountable times before.

Here is something to consider, I had a good really good friend Brad, (who by the way has also passed away, and has also never tried to contact me from beyond the grave either). Anyway, Brad believed with his entire being that aliens would never allow a nuclear war to occur between nations on Earth and they would immediately intervene if one was imminent.  He had absolute unshakable faith in this and believed it with all his heart.

I know this first hand, as Brad and me, discussed this topic on numerous occasions. Brad never wavered in his belief, or for that matter ever produced any kind of proof, or any kind of evidence that this was actually the case, not an alien manifesto, or any proof at all. I personally thought that this was not something that I would want to rely on in the brink of a nuclear war.

I had serious concerns, what if the unspecified aliens were on vacation, stuck in trans-galactic traffic, or were asleep when a nuclear war on earth started. I mentioned my concerns to Brad, and he was still supremely confident and absolutely believed that the aliens would intervene and that I was foolish to be concerned at all.

So who’s right? and who’s wrong? That’s the part I am still contemplating.

Did you know that 80% of Evangelical Christians voted for Donald Trump?  I would be really interested in knowing how anyone could possibly unite, or find common ground between these two opposing forces. I do know that I can’t seem to wrap my head around this one, no matter how much I think about it.

According to evangelical Christianity, If an atheist lived a good life, helped the poor and disadvantaged, did not lie, cheat, steal, or kill, essentially lived a good upstanding life by any measure but somehow failed to accept Jesus Christ before his/her death, they would be condemned to hell.

However, if Charles Manson, Adolf Hitler, or Ted Bundy, did accept Jesus Christ and ask for forgiveness before their deaths, they would all go to heaven. I am sorry but this just sounds absurd.

Scientologists

Scientology was invented by L. Ron Hubbard, a somewhat well-known “Science Fiction author”.

According to dummies.com “Scientologists believe that people are immortal alien beings (called thetans) who have forgotten their true nature and are trapped on earth in a human body. Scientologists believe that each thetan has lived numerous past lives, both on earth in our physical bodies, and on other planets. Scientologists also believe that by undergoing a series of classes and teachings (called auditing by the church), people can free themselves of their human form and reclaim their true selves.

Seriously? I think I’ve read the book and it ends badly for your bank account.

Here’s what I believe,  as the great philosopher Forrest Gump once said, “Stupid is what stupid does” and “That’s all I have to say about that”.

Science

Gravity

People generally agree that the discovery of “Gravity” is one of the most fundamentally important discoveries of all time. First, Issac Newton, but he was wrong, and then Albert Einstein finally described the fundamental concept of “Gravity” as we know it today.

I want to put forth the idea that this was actually not as big a deal as people make it out to be. You see, gravity is always there, even on holidays, overnight, and the weekends. Someone would have discovered gravity sooner or later anyway.  Seriously this seems pretty obvious to me.

Climate Change

99.9% of scientists and scientific bodies around the world tell us that climate change is real and is being caused by mankind because of our industrial activities. I accept their findings. After all, I am not a climate scientist.

The part of climate change that I to contemplate is the thinking of those who deny it’s real. Virtually all climate change deniers start their denial with, “I am not a scientist, but…..”

That’s right you are not a scientist Bozo, so who are you to refute them with your own bullshit. Donald Trump says that climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese. What????

Sarah Palin is another climate change denier, so that should tell you everything you need to know.

Personally, I’m with the scientists on this one.

Discovering America

When I went to school they taught us that Christopher Columbus discovered America. No, he did not! The Americas were always there. Columbus was actually sailing for the West Indies, but being the really piss poor sailor that he was, he made a wrong turn and ran right smack into America. So, Christopher “Wrong Way”Columbus made a wrong turn, and somehow “discovered” something that was there all along. I mean seriously, it’s not like you could miss it or anything. Columbus was way, way, overrated. Not to mention the fact that he was an asshole, and a slaver.

Hell, the way I see it, “Gilligans  Island” had a more believable plotline than Christopher Columbus discovering America.

Aliens (Extraterrestrial Life)

I have been thinking about this for a very long time now. When I talk about aliens I am referring to the kind from another planet, not to be confused with undocumented people from one country living in another country without permission.

We seem to have two kinds of supposed alien visitations. The first type is where alien beings visit some poor uneducated fool named Billy Bob in the middle of nowhere, abduct him against his will give him some sort of inexplicable anal probe, release him and go on their merry way.

This makes no sense on several levels. How many anal probes would alien beings require from human beings? and what would be the ultimate purpose?

I would think that if alien beings wanted to reveal themselves to Earth they most likely would not appear to Billy Bob in the middle of nowhere, they would be a lot more effective landing at Central Park in NYC, at noon on a Saturday, where thousands of people would see them. Not to mention the fact that this would be a lot better place to gather their anal probe data as they could collect hundreds at once. I would be willing to bet that they could find several people who would even volunteer for anal probing.

The other type of alien sighting consists of either coloured lights in the night sky or supposed video of some sort of alien craft just buzzing the Earth. I often wonder if aliens just buzz the planet just to fuck with us for fun?

According to the theory of Occam’s razor, with two facts being equal, the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

Unidentified lights in the sky, or (usually fuzzy images) of unusually shaped craft flying over someplace seems like a stretch from other more simple explanations.

I do believe that considering that there are literally billions of planets and galaxies out there that there is certainly a great probability that there are other forms of life somewhere in the universe. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly do not have any proof to support this belief, this is just a very strong statistical probability.

Here’s something to contemplate. I am going to science the shit out of this one, so hang on. The closest star (another sun) from Earth is 4.24 light years away. It is a binary star system and Faint Proxima Centauri is the closest one.

A light-year is a distance that light travels in one year. According to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity – E = mc2   this equates to 186,000 miles per second. To put this into perspective that means that if you could travel the speed of light, it would mean that you could travel from Earth to the Moon in 1.3 seconds. Also, according to the Einstein’s relativity, one cannot travel at, or faster than the speed of light.

So, by the laws of physics, as we understand it, travelling at .99% the speed of light, it would take an alien race sometime more than 4.24 years each way just to reach Earth. Of course, because of time dilation, they would only experience a trip of only about 14 days, while 4.24 years would have passed on Faint Proxima Centauri.

So, ignoring pesky things like having to slow down, orbital mechanics, and everything else, If aliens left Faint Proxima Centauri at,99% the speed of light somehow slingshot around the Earth and go right back home. These alien astronauts would have aged only about 24 days while everyone else on their planet would have aged 8.48 years. BAM! Mic drop!

What that means is either extraterrestrial aliens have either discovered other laws of physics and technologies that we don’t have any understanding or comprehension of, which is not beyond the realm of possibility, or it could be that we are just separated by too vast distances to ever meet or have any meaningful communication.

Let’s just imagine for a moment that an alien culture only 4.24 light years away sent us a modulated communication by a powerful laser. Assuming that we could even understand the message, and answer it right away, the message would take 4,24 years to get here and another 4.24 more years before they got our response. Just saying hello to each other would take 8.48 years. A generation would have lived and died before any sort of meaningful communication would have occurred.

I am going to be thinking about this one for quite a long time.

Our own solar system is vast. For all the science geeks out there like me here is a fascinating video that illustrates, in real-time, the journey of a photon of light emitted from the surface of the sun and travelling across a portion of our solar system, from a human perspective.

Fake News and Alternative Facts

This is one area where I attempt to contemplate some sort of meaning but somehow I always fail miserably. Although that doesn’t stop me from trying.

Did you know that pollsters recently did a survey where they talked to lots of people and presented them with a conspiracy theory without any basis in fact or offering any proof and a full 33% of the people believed them without question?

What the fuck is wrong with these people? Whatever happened to critical thinking? What I find interesting is how the 33% of the people who obviously believes anything, without proof or basis, in fact, or reality, is about the same percentage of people who voted for Donald Trump.

Is this a coincidence? Who knows. Although I believe that there is a strong probability that this is actually the case that 33% of the people are actually morons who will believe anything, without proof, or facts, no matter how absurd it might be.

I actually had a friend tell me recently that Breitbart news was going to be the “new” New York Times.  Are you fucking kidding me? The New York Times is a Pulitzer prize winning news source. Breitbart news, not so much.

Donald trump recently tweeted that NY Times, NBC, ABC, MSNBC and CNN News are enemies of the American People. This is incredibly dangerous and is certainly just Trump’s propaganda. Just because mainstream news organisations report his own words or report actual news that is critical of him or his policies does not make them enemies of the American people it just makes them news organisations doing their jobs as journalists.

Conversely, if the mainstream news organisations mentioned above are enemies of the American people, then that would infer that biased or outright fake news sites e.g.- FOX News, Breitbart, Infowars, or the Drudge Report are not. Sadly, people actually buy into these alternative facts.

The main issue that I try to contemplate is why? Another important question is why do people vote against their own interests?

I listen to NPR three hours per day, read the Huffington Post, CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, Bloomberg, NY Times, Washington Post, and Politico every day to try to get a good understanding of events and to try see if there is a consensus regarding the day’s news events. Notice that the common thread between all of these news sites is that they are all award-winning mainstream news sources.

I am still stunned when I wear my NPR tee-shirt that Trump supporters will point to it and say that NPR is a liberal news organisation. Seriously??? NPR is about as fair and balanced as you can get and they always present both sides in every news story they produce, and furthermore, NPR doe’s not provide any sort of commentary one way or the other, they present the facts from both sides and leave it up to you to decide for yourself where you stand on the issues at hand. Isn’t this what real journalism is all about?

Since when did NPR suddenly become the enemy, or somehow become a liberal news source? They haven’t, and I can’t imagine that they ever will be.

Thomas Jefferson once said, “Democracy is founded upon a well-educated population” He was right then, and he is, even more, right today. The internet and fake news sources have enabled people to validate their own beliefs regardless if they are true or not.

I get it, It is really hard for some people to change their belief systems when confronted with indisputable facts to the contrary. However, as human beings, this is how life is. The real truth of reality is not what you want it, or believe it to be. Reality is what it is, and will find a way to reassert itself with a vengeance the longer it is denied. There is only one truth no matter what you may personally believe.

One thing that I am absolutely certain of, there are no “alternative facts” only facts. There is only one truth, it is only true, or not true. The sooner we all realise this the better off we will all be.

The sooner you realise this fundamental truth about reality, the sooner you will learn to become a thinking human being.

As for the rest of this stuff, I will keep contemplating it so you don’t have to.

Some of my other important contemplations that I am still working on include, why is it that a USB connector is designed to only go in one way, but you have to flip it around three times before it finally goes in? and why is it that they keep looking for Big Foot, but never seem to find one, either living or dead?

As Always,

I Am…..

Conspiracy Theories and the Gullibility of Society

Conspiracy Theories and the Gullibility of Society

Let’s start with exactly what is a conspiracy theory? The standard definition is:

1. A theory that explains an event as being the result of a plot by a covert group or organization; “belief that a particular “unexplained” event was caused by such a group.

2. The idea that many important political events or economic and social trends are the products of secret plots that are largely unknown to the general public.

The most bizarre fact about conspiracy theories is the fact that any evidence presented is by definition just another cover up by said secret organizations or groups to obscure the truth.  Essentially, To conspiracy theorists,  “belief” is far more important than any facts or evidence to the contrary.

There is something seriously wrong in society when uninformed “belief” in something is far more important than “scientific evidence” to the contrary.

When did we stop believing in science?

There are many, many, conspiracy theories out there, way too many to cover them all. But, here are a few examples:

  • The Flat Earth Society
  • Secret underground cities and caves at the Grand Canyon
  • The Illuminati
  • Shadow Government
  • The American moon landings were a hoax
  • Alien bodies stored at Area 51
  • Chem Trails.
  • Climate Change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese
  • Bigfoot, chupacabras, Swamp Monsters, Mothman, and more…
  • The origins of the AIDS virus
  • The Philadelphia Experiment
  • Etc, Etc, Etc.

Are we so gullible as a society that we will blindly believe anything that anyone says and take that to be fact? Evidently, we are. At least some of us anyway.

Often, conspiracy theorists quote “Unnamed Authoritative Experts” as the evidence and scientific legitimacy to support their findings. Since when are unnamed authoritative experts the basis for sound scientific method? What do they have to hide?

If something is fact, there is no legitimate reason to be utilizing “unnamed.  authoritative sources”. In fact, this undermines the entire argument as it eliminates public scrutiny of the facts as well as eliminates the possibility that the evidence provided could be analyzed or peer-reviewed by other experts in order to reach similar conclusions based upon the preponderance of the evidence presented.

Of course, conspiracy theorists point to the fact these authoritative experts lives would be in jeopardy if their identity should become public. Their lives would somehow be threatened, or subject to ridicule, by the very same shadow government, or covert groups that actually control all that goes on.

Really???

Let’s take a look at just the few conspiracy theories  I have listed and look at the basic facts;

The Flat Earth Society – They believe the Earth is a disc with the Arctic in the center and Antarctic, a 150-feet-tall ice wall, around the rim holding back water. NASA employees guard this ice wall to prevent people from climbing over and falling off the disc. Earth’s day and night cycle is explained by positing that the sun and moon are spheres measuring 32 miles that move in circles 3,000 miles above the plane of the Earth. These celestial spheres illuminate different portions of the planet in a 24-hour cycle.

OK??? NASA has only been around since the 1950’s so who was guarding the Arctic and Antarctic ice walls before the 1950’s? What happened to all the people who sailed to the edge of the Earth and were turned back by these sentries? Or were they all forced to sign some sort of binding non-disclosure agreement?

How do you explain the around the world expeditions that have taken place in the last few hundred years?

How do you explain the thousands of photos taken of Earth by multiple nations including the International Space Station, Satellites, Astronauts, and even High School and College students that have launched go-pro cameras on high altitude weather balloons? Every single one of these photos shows the Earth as being round.

I would think that the evidence is clear.

Secret underground cities and caves at the Grand Canyon

A story on the front page of the April 5, 1909 edition of the Arizona Gazette recounted the discovery of a series of bizarre caves and artifacts in the Marble Canyon region of the Grand Canyon. The report claimed two Smithsonian-funded archaeologists, Prof. S. A. Jordan and G.E. Kinkaid, are responsible for the find. As the article noted:

(D)iscoveries which almost conclusively prove that the race which inhabited this mysterious cavern, hewn in solid rock by human hands, was of oriental origin, possibly from Egypt, tracing back to Ramses. If their theories are borne out by the translation of the tablets engraved with hieroglyphics, the mystery of the prehistoric peoples of North America, their ancient arts, who they were and whence they came, will be solved. Egypt and the Nile, and Arizona and the Colorado will be linked by a historical chain running back to ages which staggers the wildest fancy of the fictionist.

The problem here is, No record exists of Kincaid or Professor Jordan within the Smithsonian’s Department of Anthropology, nor is there a paper trail at the Smithsonian detailing the artifacts gathered on the expedition. When asked directly about Kincaid’s claims, a Smithsonian Institute representative once said:

Well, the first thing I can tell you, before we go any further, is that no Egyptian artifacts of any kind have ever been found in North or South America. Therefore, I can tell you that the Smithsonian Institute has never been involved in any such excavations.

Just because this area has been a “No Trespassing” area for the last 100 years doesn’t in way mean that there are secret caves or underground cities that the U.S. Government is trying to hide. Besides if there were such a thing, I would think that there would not be any trace of it now. Especially, if the U.S. Government was trying to cover it up. 100 years is a long time to erase any trace of anything ever being there.

The Illuminati

According to Wikipedia.org – The Illuminati” refers to various organizations which claim or are purported to have links to the original Bavarian Illuminati or similar secret societies, though these links are unsubstantiated. They are often alleged to conspire to control world affairs, by masterminding events and planting agents in government and corporations, in order to gain political power and influence and to establish a New World Order.

Central to some of the most widely known and elaborate conspiracy theories, the Illuminati have been depicted as lurking in the shadows and pulling the strings and levers of power in dozens of novels, films, television shows, comics, video games, and music videos.

I think we can all agree that the rise of Donald Trump as the nominee of the Republican Party for President of the United States totally disproves that the Illuminati even exist at all.

Shadow Government

Once again, according to Wikipedia.org – The shadow government (cryptocracy, secret government, or invisible government) is a family of conspiracy theories based on the notion that real and actual political power resides not with publicly elected representatives (for example, the United States Congress) but with private individuals who are exercising power behind the scenes, beyond the scrutiny of democratic institutions. According to this belief, the official elected government, is in reality, subservient to the shadow government who are the true executive power.

Shadow government theories often propose that the government is secretly controlled by foreign elements (such as aliens or the Vatican and Jesuits), internal minorities (such as the Jews, moneyed interests and central banks, or Freemasons), or globalist elites and supranational organizations, who seek to manipulate policy or conquer the world.

Once again, see my previous response to The Illuminati.

The American moon landings were a hoax

Let’s just look at the facts concerning the moon landing hoax. According to conspiracy theorists, Stanley Kubrick the famous movie director actually filmed the fake moon landing on a super secret CIA controlled sound stage in Hollywood.

This is kind of strange as Stanley Kubrick, was a well-known social activist.

Essentially, according to conspiracy theorists, the Apollo moon landing never happened.

Here is the video of the launch. We all saw the get into the capsule. We all saw the launch of Apollo 11, on top of the Saturn 5 Rocket. Here is the footage;

I remember distinctly being glued to the television as an 11-year-old by and Walter Cronkite talking us through what we were watching. If they didn’t go to the moon where did they go?

Three days later, this is what we all watched. It was exciting beyond belief.

With only 13 seconds of fuel remaining Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. I will never forget this day as long as I live. This was broadcast literally around the world. It was amazing!

So, some people who are not Astro- Physicists somehow decided that the flag didn’t look right, and the shadows on the moon were somehow suspicious.

Let’s look at the facts. There were approximately 400,000 people who worked on the Apollo program. Not one, not one person, has ever stepped forward and claimed or provided any sort of proof that this was an elaborate hoax.

Besides this was during the cold war, I am fairly certain that the Soviets would be the first ones to blow the whistle on any sort of hoax like this.

Alien bodies stored at Area 51

The CIA has confirmed the existence of Area 51. Area 51 is real, no doubt. Just because Area 51 is a top-secret military installation, somehow this has morphed onto this is the location that the Federal Government is storing the bodies of aliens that have crashed landed on Earth.

Just because one person claims to have seen them, one person and we have no way to confirm the authentically of their claims, so obviously, this is fact. Right?.

This really is just as stupid as it sounds. I could claim that the United States Government had killed the tooth fairy, stored her body at Area 51, and it would have the same exact weight. What proof do I have? Nothing! That’s the point.

Chem Trails. (I have already written about this one previously. You can read about it here) ->http://profoundrevelations.com/2016/08/17/chem-trails-real-or-fake/

Climate Change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese

This is a charge often repeated by Donald Trump. Let’s look at the facts. 99% of the world’s “climate scientists” and virtually all the world’s scientific bodies have stated unequivocally, that climate change is real, and is being caused by man’s activities.

Many unbelieving politicians, especially in the Republican Party preface their ignorant statement with “I am not a scientist, but…”

You can already STOP RIGHT THERE. If you are not a scientist, what credentials do you have to refute the science?  In this case, your “belief” in something doesn’t fucking matter.

Bigfoot, chupacabras, Swamp Monsters, Moth-man, and more…

There has never, ever, been any verified sightings, dead bodies, bones, DNA evidence (Hair, scat, bones, skin samples, etc) Nothing at all to support the existence of these creatures. Until there is, there is no proof whatsoever that anything like this exists at all.

The origins of the AIDS virus

Conspiracy theorists believe that the AIDS virus was created in a laboratory and injected into homosexuals and African-Americans by ruse of a hepatitis-B experiment back in 1978. Thabo Mbeki, the former South African President, said that the scientific claims that the disease originated in Africa is false and that the U.S. government actually created the virus in a lab and is trying to place the blame on Africa. Theorists believe that the AIDS virus was created by the CIA to rid the country of homosexuals and African-Americans and to weaken the group’s numbers.

Once again, where is the proof? There is not one shred of evidence that this is actually the case. The lack if evidence has not stopped conspiracy theorists from running with this wild accusation.

The Philadelphia Experiment

According to The Telegraph UK; The Philadelphia Experiment, Popularised by the Charles Berlitz novel of the same name, conspiracy theorists believe that during an experiment at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in October 1943, the US Navy destroyer Eldridge was rendered invisible.

According to some accounts, the scientists on the experiment found a way to bend light around an object but that the experiment went wrong and Eldridge was transported through space and time, reappearing at sea. Several sailors, it is said, were badly hurt when the experiment went wrong and some were melded into the ship’s superstructure. The US Navy has denied that the experiment ever took place.

Certainly, I can imagine that U.S. Navy did do experiments to render ships invisible to radar. However, this entire conspiracy came about based on a novel by Charles Berlitz.

Furthermore, according to Wikipedia; The USS Eldridge was not commissioned until August 27, 1943, and it remained in port in New York City until September 1943. The October experiment allegedly took place while the ship was on its first shakedown cruise in The Bahamas, although proponents of the story claim that the ship’s logs might have been falsified or else still be classified.

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) stated in September 1996, “ONR has never conducted investigations on radar invisibility, either in 1943 or at any other time.” Pointing out that the ONR was not established until 1946, it denounces the accounts of “The Philadelphia Experiment” as complete “science fiction.”

A reunion of Navy veterans who had served aboard the USS Eldridge told a Philadelphia newspaper in April 1999 that their ship had never made port in Philadelphia. Further evidence discounting the Philadelphia Experiment timeline comes from the USS Eldridge’s complete World War II action report, including the remarks section of the 1943 deck log, available on microfilm.

Once again, the proof to support these type of wild allegations is not based upon any facts to support the actual evidence.

I am not saying that any of these theories that I have listed have zero basis in fact. What I am saying is that the evidence does not support the narrative that is provided to us. Until solid evidence is provided and verified, we cannot say for certain that these events actually happened as the conspiracy theorists would lead us to believe.

As Tom Dye, The Safety Guy, I often investigate incidents. Often, my initial working theory turns out to be incorrect. Once all the facts are revealed, timelines established, and sequence of events are verified, the actual root cause reveals that my initial working assumption was often incorrect.

The truth of the matter is always the truth, no matter what my personal beliefs may be. Obviously, I have to accept that where the facts and evidence may lead me, must take precedence over my personal beliefs on the matter.

I have to rely on “scientific method” to base my decisions on. what is the scientific method?

Per Wikipedia; The scientific method is a body of techniques for investigating phenomena, acquiring new knowledge, or correcting and integrating previous knowledge. To be termed scientific, a method of inquiry is commonly based on empirical or measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning.

Another tool that I find to be extremely useful is; Occam’s Razor;

The definition of Occam’s razor is : a scientific and philosophic rule that entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily which is interpreted as requiring that the simplest of competing theories be preferred to the more complex or that explanations of unknown phenomena be sought first in terms of known quantities.

To put it into simpler terms; With two things being equal, the simplest explanation is usually the right answer.

Is society gullible? Obviously, many people are. Whether it comes to politics, personal interactions, science, or everything in between. Many people rely on belief with no basis in fact and choose to ignore the evidence right in front of them.

When did we lose our way as a society start ignoring, or disbelieving scientists and science?

As the great Astrophysicist Neil DeDegrasse Tyson said; ” The best thing about science is it is still true whether or not you believe in it”

Here’s more from Neil DeGrasse Tyson

Am I a scientist? No. I am not; a Physicist, Mathematician, Chemist, Geologist, Biologist, or any other kind of Scientist. However, because I am not, I have to rely on the people who are. That doesn’t mean that I will just follow one person’s facts blindly, not at all. I do my research and try to find collaborative research from others to support the facts.

Who else are we to believe?

I believe in facts, and objective truths, whether I find them personally uncomfortable or not. Because it doesn’t really matter what I believe personally, because the facts speak for themselves.

Should you take my word that everything I have written as the truth? Of course not. Do your own research and cross referencing for own benefit, You would be a fool just to take my word for it.

Of course, the conspiracy theorists would say that I am just another member of some sort of secret organization or group, attempting to sway their opinion from the actual truth that they hold to be self-evident.

One never knows does one?

It is for you, and only you, to decide the truth for yourselves.

Sarah Palin It Snowed In Alaska In May So There Is No Global Warming

Sarah Palin: It Snowed In Alaska In May, So There Is No Global Warming! Really? I wasn’t aware that Sarah Palin was now a Scientist.

Oh wait, before I forget, This news commentary and story is a work of satire and thus is protected speech under the first amendment of the United States Constitution.

OK, now that’s out-of-the-way. I don’t normally feel compelled to make that statement, but everyone knows how Sarah Palin loves to give her ignorant hate speeches and bizarre Facebook rants. However, If anyone says anything negative about her she sends out an army of Lawyers in an attempt to stifle any dissenting opinion.

Normally, I just ignore Sarah Palin. I mean seriously, she is like an unruly child who periodically throws a temper tantrum. Every smart parent knows when your child starts throwing a temper tantrum, you either ignore them or send them to their room. In this case Sarah Palin’s comments were so ignorant and so wildly absurd, I felt compelled to answer Sarah Palin directly. After all, I am Tom Dye, the Safety Guy, champion of all things absurd.

Dear Sarah Palin,

Evidently, over this past weekend you noticed that there was a late May snowstorm in Alaska. So being the half-wit that you are, you automatically made a giant intellectual  leap (or actually it was just a little hop) and instantly determined that since there was a late snow storm in May, then obviously there is no such thing as global warming. You have a fairly long history of making absurd statements about climate change. As a matter of fact, this time you even went on to say;  “Global warming my gluteus maximus”.

Sarah Palin

So Sarah, since you obviously don’t suffer from any of the ravages of intelligence, you now fancy yourself to be a qualified, Climate Scientist?  Oh wait, I know you have trouble with big words so Let me spell that for you Sarah, that’s S-c-i-e-n-t-i-s-t  you know those really smart people who have advanced degrees, superior intellects and come up with new ideas and theories that advance all of mankind.

So, now you’re an expert on climate change, You Betcha! Well, I guess you have to do something to make a living now that FOX Fake NEWS doesn’t want to hear from you anymore either. And, your stupid TV reality show, lasted exactly one season before it was cancelled.

Well, personally I like to get my information from trusted authoritative sources. That being said, let’s just take a look at your record of accomplishments so far shall we?

First of all, you went to like three or four minor universities, so you could just squeak by and get a degree in journalism. This fact is actually astounding to me as your apparent grasp of the English language, both written and spoken is frankly shockingly limited.

During the 2008 election cycle you once famously asked, what’s the difference between a pit-bull and a soccer mom? You smugly answered, it’s lipstick. In you’re case, the real answer is it is in reality, a pit-bull has a better grasp of the English language and exhibits far superior problem solving skills.

Also, Sarah as a failed Governor of Alaska, you only served out half of  your four-year term and resigned because it was “too stressful”. Really? Did you even know that Alaska is the most sparsely populated State in the entire nation? That’s right, Alaska ranks, 50th out of 50 states. How f–king stressful could that be?

Next, Sen. John McCain in one of the biggest political blunders in modern history picked you of all people to be his running mate for Vice President of the United States. My God! If you bobble-heads had actually won, this country would have been flushed right down the toilet. Talk about the blind leading the deaf. What, would you have quit that job as well when it got too stressful?

Here’s an interesting fact. I know for certain that when you debated the well-known 35 year Senator from Delaware (Now Vice President) Joseph Biden, you came out on stage and famously asked if you could just call him Joe. Do you remember that? Well the reason you had to do that was because during your debate practice sessions, in which you were already a walking intellectually challenged train wreck, you kept referring to Senator Biden, as Senator O’Biden.

Of course, we can’t forget the famous TV interview with Katie Couric. Remember the one in which Katie Couric asked you which newspapers you read daily. Sarah, Sarah, really? you couldn’t name not even one newspaper, not a single one.

You later appeared on Fox fake News and ranted about “Gotcha” journalism by the lame stream media. Gotcha journalism? Just because they asked you what newspapers you read? For God’s sake, you couldn’t get a more slow pitch softball question then that, except for maybe; What’s your favorite color?

Don’t worry, Sarah you don’t have to answer that, because I really don’t f–king want to know or care what your favorite color is. It’s just an analogy. Simply speaking, it was a simple f–king question. For God’s sake you could have just made up what newspapers you read. Who would ever know anyway?

So, Sarah, now that you’re a Climate Scientist, permit me to educate you on some of your absurd misconceptions, not all of your erroneous statements, that would take way too long and this is not a novel.  So, we will confine the discussion to just climate change.

First of all, let me start by saying I am mildly impressed that you even know what a gluteus maximus is, or maybe you don’t, but at least it was spelled right. Thank God, for spell check.

Since you’re one of the very few climate change deniers left, you always seem confused by the terms “weather” and “Climate”.  So let’s start with the basics.

Weather  – is the state of the atmosphere, to the degree that it is hot or cold, wet or dry, calm or stormy, clear or cloudy. Most weather phenomena occur in the troposphere, just below the stratosphere. Weather generally refers to day-to-day temperature and precipitation activity.

Climate – encompasses the statistics of temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, precipitation, atmospheric particle count and other meteorological elemental measurements in a given region over long periods.

Sorry, for all the big words Sarah, maybe you can get one of your children to explain them to you.

So, as you can see just because there was a late snow in May in Alaska, it has nothing to do with climate change. Or your incorrect use of the term, “Global Warming”.

One of the major indicators of climate change is the CO2 levels (that’s carbon dioxide) one of the four primary gasses that make up earth’s atmosphere has increased by 35% since the industrial revolution began just over 200 years ago.

That’s a 35% increase in just over 200 years. Now, that’s a pretty sobering statistic. Oh, by the way Sarah, in case you didn’t know the other three primary gasses that make up the majority of Earth’s atmosphere include: Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Argon. Plus there are very small amounts of other gasses as well.

Here’s some other compelling facts to consider:

(Just so you know Sarah, the following facts came from the really smart Scientists at NASA. That’s the acronym for the  National Aeronautics and Space Administration.)

Sea level rise

Global sea level rose about 17 centimeters (6.7 inches) in the last century. The rate in the last decade, however, is nearly double that of the last century.

Global temperature rise

All three major global surface temperature reconstructions show that Earth has warmed since 1880. Most of this warming has occurred since the 1970s, with the 20 warmest years having occurred since 1981 and with all 10 of the warmest years occurring in the past 12 years. Even though the 2000s witnessed a solar output decline resulting in an unusually deep solar minimum in 2007-2009, surface temperatures continue to increase.

Warming oceans

The oceans have absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 700 meters (about 2,300 feet) of ocean showing warming of 0.302 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969.

Shrinking ice sheets

The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Data from NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost 150 to 250 cubic kilometers (36 to 60 cubic miles) of ice per year between 2002 and 2006, while Antarctica lost about 152 cubic kilometers (36 cubic miles) of ice between 2002 and 2005.

Declining Arctic sea ice

Both the extent and thickness of Arctic sea ice has declined rapidly over the last several decades.

Glacial retreat

Glaciers are retreating almost everywhere around the world — including in the Alps, Himalayas, Andes, Rockies, Alaska and Africa.

Extreme events

The number of record high temperature events in the United States has been increasing, while the number of record low temperature events has been decreasing, since 1950. The U.S. has also witnessed increasing numbers of intense rainfall events.

Ocean acidification

Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the acidity of surface ocean waters has increased by about 30 percent. This increase is the result of humans emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and hence more being absorbed into the oceans. The amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by the upper layer of the oceans is increasing by about 2 billion tons per year.

OK, Sarah, I ‘m going to stop now, as I am certain that you won’t understand any of the scientific data anyway, besides having to look up dozens of big words in the dictionary is really, really, time-consuming.

Of course, Sarah, as usual, your timing for your absurd Facebook post could have not been more ill-timed. That following Monday a very rare F-5 Tornado touched down in Morris, Oklahoma.

Morris, OK

Morris, OK

Here’s an idea Sarah, maybe you should ask the good people in Morris, OK, what they feel about climate change. Or maybe the good people of Joplin, Mo, New Orleans, LA,  NY, York, NY, and New Jersey.

Considering, you say that you can see Russia from your house, why don’t you ask the Russians what they feel about climate change? I am pretty certain you will not get kind of confirmation of your absurd beliefs.

More then likely you will hear something like this: Лучше, чтобы сохранить ваши моли закрыты, и есть люди, подозреваю, что ты дурак, а затем открыть его и люди знали наверняка. Иди в свою комнату, Сара Пэйлин.

Loosely translated this means: It is better to keep your moth shut and have people suspect that you are a fool, then to open it and have people know for sure. Go to your room, Sarah Palin.

Maybe, just maybe, you still have time to redeem yourself and use your rapidly shrinking platform to inform and educate, instead of spewing hate and ignorance.

I sincerely doubt you have it in you, I am always an optimist, so who knows.

Also, in closing, If we were to ever have a televised debate on stage, you may not under any circumstances, just call me “Tom”.  Because……..

As always,

I am…
