May 01, 2017, Is Loyalty Day In The Unites States, Say What?

May 1st, is known as May Day, a celebration of workers rights across the globe.  But, did you know that May First is also “Loyalty Day” in the United States?

The holiday was first observed in 1921, during the First Red Scare. … Loyalty Day has been recognized with an official Presidential proclamation every year, by every U.S. President since its inception as a legal holiday in 1958. Normally, every sitting President issues a proclamation and we go along with our daily lives.

But unfortunately, my friends, with Donald J. Trump as President of the United States, (I still vomit a little in my mouth every time I have to say that) Loyalty Day has a whole new meaning. So I have decided to post the entire Presidential Proclamation and I have included my comments and talking points to help define where a vast majority of Americans stand.

So, here goes, my reinterpretation of Donald J. Trumps Loyalty Day Proclamation.

Loyalty Day, 2017

By the President of the United States of America (By Donald J Trump, SCROTUS (So Called Ruler Of The United States)

A Proclamation

On Loyalty Day, we recognize and reaffirm our allegiance to the principles upon which our Nation is built.  (As a patriot who believes that the highest form of patriotism is to oppose the Government when I believe that it is wrong, I believe Trump to be Donald Trump is not working in the best interests of the country. Trump only doe’s what is best for himself and his family, the rest of the country be damned.) We pledge our dedication to the United States of America and honor its unique heritage, reminding ourselves that we are one Nation, under God, (The under God part was added in 1953, The founding fathers did not build the United States on the Christian religion or any religion. They were really clear on this particular point.) made possible by those who have sacrificed to defend our liberty.  We honor our Republic and acknowledge the great responsibility that self-governance demands of each of us. (I believe this to be true!)

The United States stands as the world’s leader in upholding the ideals of freedom, equality, and justice. (Except when Trump invites the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, to the WhiteHouse despite his attacks on the human rights of his country including imprisoning Journalists, and jailing and torturing his own citizens who are just exercising their basic civil rights by protesting the injustice of their own Government. Or, how Trump just invited Rodrigo Duterte, The President of the Philippines to the WhiteHouse who is responsible for the extra-judicial killings of over 7,000 “suspected drug dealers and users” without trial or proof of guilt, or even minimal due process.  Not to mention Trump’s bromance with Vladimir Putin, even though Trump is under investigation by the FBI and the Senate and house Intelligence Committees for his ties to Russian Intelligence, who by the way, hacked and influenced our election.)   Together, and with these fundamental concepts enshrined in our Constitution, our Nation perseveres in the face of those who would seek to harm it. (As far as I can tell, the only person currently seeking to harm the United States is Donald Trump himself. I firmly believe that Trump will either be impeached or resign before his first term in office is up. Stay tuned.)

As one Nation, we will always stand strong against the threats of terrorism and lawlessness.  (This is self-evident as this is the primary function of our Government) The loyalty of our citizenry sends a clear signal to our allies and enemies that the United States will never yield from our way of life. (Loyalty to the United States and its ideals doe’s not mean we have blind obedience tom the morons who are in charge at any given moment. Especially, a minority elected President.)  Through the Department of Defense and other national security agencies, we are working to destroy ISIS, and to secure for all Americans the liberty terrorists seek to extinguish.  ( I would certainly hope so) We humbly thank our brave service members and veterans who have worn our Nation’s uniform ‑‑ from the American Revolution to the present day.  Their unwavering loyalty and fidelity has made the world a safer, more free, and more just place.  (Of course, we appreciate and thank our veterans for their service, Duh!) We are inspired by their pride in our country’s principles, their devotion to our freedom, and their solemn pledge to protect and defend our Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. (Like I said, who is the biggest threat to our constitution?)

To express our country’s loyalty to individual liberties, to limited government, (This is an interesting statement as our founding fathers never discussed what size our Government should be, Small, Medium or Large. Not to mention, my loyalty to the United States doe’s not necessarily include, loyalty to Congress, or The President. These are two entirely different things. The only person who is a danger to my individual liberties is Donald Trump.) and to the inherent dignity of every human being, the Congress, by Public Law 85-529 as amended, has designated May 1 of each year as “Loyalty Day.”  On this day, we honor the United States of America and those who uphold its values, particularly those who have fought and continue to fight to defend the freedom it affords us. (I actually find this sentence to be particularly disturbing. Is Trump insinuating that the only people who uphold American values are those who have fought to defend it.  What about the rest of us?)

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, (SCROTUS) President of the United States of America, ( We will see for how long) do hereby proclaim May 1, 2017, as Loyalty Day.  This Loyalty Day, I call on all Americans to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies in our schools and other public places, including recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. (Of course, this includes the thousand of Americans across the Country marching in protest against Donald Trump’s policies, right?) I also call upon all Government officials to display the flag of the United States on all Government buildings and grounds on that day. (Pretty standard stuff, OK I get it).

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-eighth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand seventeen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-first.

DONALD J. TRUMP (SCROTUS) So called Ruler of the United States)
